If you are looking to protect and grow your hair under a wig adding a hair mask into your hair care routine may be beneficial.
It will boost the hydration in your hair, and it's also going to help repair damaged hair. There are some hair masks that may even improve the health of your scalp and boost the strength of your hair.
Who can use hair masks?
Hair masks can be beneficial for curly hair, colored hair, bleached hair, damaged and frizzy hair. People with thyroid issues or those who are taking prescription medications may also benefit from hair masks.
How to tell if your hair is damaged
One of the ways that you can tell if your hair is dry or damaged is to see if you have a lot of split ends in your hair that seems to be breaking an awful lot or if, for some reason, your hair is not growing. It usually means your hair is dry and damaged, and that's one of the reasons why I recommend adding a hair mask into your regular hair routine.
How to use a hair mask
First, cleanse your hair with shampoo and skip the conditioner. You will go straight to the hair mask. When you're using a hair mask, focus on placing the product on the mid-length and ends of your hair. Once your mid-length and ends are saturated, then finger comb the rest of the product onto your scalp. Your scalp is not going to need as much conditioning or product as the ends of your hair.
How to apply a hair mask
If applicable, grab your hair into a ponytail. Dispense a small amount of product into your hands and gently finger comb the product throughout your hair until all your hair is saturated. After you have left the hair mask on for the required time, thoroughly rinse all the product from your hair.
How often should I apply a hair mask?
A hair mask may be applied once a week or once every other week. Most hair masks will require that you let the product sit on your hair for up to 3 to 5 minutes in the shower. Still, if you need a little bit more conditioning or a deeper treatment, apply the hair mask, put on a shower cap, and leave the hair mask on for 30 minutes. You're going to get deeper conditioning.
