Bleached knots and Unbleached knots can affect how natural your lace wig looks. It can also determine how long your lace wig will last.
Most people are either for bleached knots or for unbleached knots, there is no in between.
Now, you’re probably wondering: What do I choose?
I’ll answer that in a few. But first, let’s get to know Bleached knots and Unbleached knots better first.
The Difference Between Bleached Knots and Unbleached Knots
When darker hair is used these knots appear as small dots on the lace base that are noticeable in appearance.
Lighter hair colored lace wigs or blonde lace wigs do not need bleached knots because the knots are already light in color.
Types of Knots
Single Knot ventilation techniques are usually always performed at the hairline, which creates a very tiny knot. Some lace wigs are made entirely using the single knot technique, but tend to be more expensive.
The Double Knot hair ventilation technique begins generally after the hairline and all over the rest of the wig cap. Double knots are more secure and use typically more hair strands, however, the knot is significantly larger in appearance.

This type of process chemically alters the hair. It opens the cuticle and removes the color in an irreversible chemical reaction.
By making the knots lighter it camouflages the tiny knots and creates an illusion that the hair is growing from your scalp.
